tHE WATER PROJECT

You can make a difference in ending the water crisis and restoring hope. Together, we'll work towards providing clean, safe, and reliable water to communities in Durban, South Africa, one community at a time.

The Problem

Durban, a city in the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa, is in the grips of a significant water crisis. Many communities are entirely without running water, with towns like Verulam and Phoenix enduring more than 250 days without access.

The severity of the situation has left the local government without immediate solutions for its residents. Reports paint a grim picture, labeling the water crisis as a "very sensitive, life-threatening issue," demanding urgent action. Factors such as flood damage, drought, and other challenges have compounded the problem.

Adding to the urgency, on June 3rd, 2024, Durban was struck by an intense storm and a possible tornado, devastating multiple areas and causing widespread damage to homes, infrastructure, and schools. Unfortunately, a resolution seems elusive, leaving the affected communities in a state of uncertainty and desperation.

The Solution

Our plan involves installing JoJo Tanks, also known as water tanks, to provide a continuous, pressurized, and safe water supply. These tanks are connected to the main water line, automatically filling when water is available. This stored water can then be used during water cuts, ensuring households have access to clean water for drinking and household use.

By installing 10 JoJo Tanks in these communities, we aim to offer a dependable water source to meet residents' immediate needs. This solution provides a practical and sustainable approach to addressing the water crisis, guaranteeing access to water even during interruptions in the main supply.

In addition to installing JoJo Tanks, we'll arrange for water tankers to fill them as needed. This dual approach ensures a steady water supply to Verulam and Phoenix, Durban, especially during emergencies or when the main supply is disrupted. This strategy is adaptable and environmentally friendly, meeting current needs while also planning for the future.

In April, we embarked on a heartfelt mission in Verulam, delivering a lifeline of 16,000 liters of water. This video tells the story of our journey, highlighting the faces and places touched by our efforts. With a hired water tank, we traveled to each affected area, connecting with people in need and making a tangible difference in their lives

Durban a city without water

Access to water has emerged as a pressing issue in South Africa, compounding the challenges faced by communities. Verulam, Phoenix, and Tongaat are currently grappling with a crisis, enduring severe water shortages. Reports indicate that some residents have been without tap water for as long as six months. These communities, located within the city of Durban, find themselves in cities without water, highlighting the urgency of the situation.

April Water Drive

In April, our team initiated a journey of compassion in the Verulam area, delivering a precious lifeline to a community in dire need. Despite enduring over 250 days without water, we brought hope and hydration with our distribution of 16,000 liters. We extend our deepest gratitude to our sponsors whose partnership made this act of kindness possible. Together, we're transforming lives and inspiring change.

Elev8 Water Drive

This summer, our team is embarking on a transformative project to bring clean water to Durban, South Africa! 🇿🇦 With this trip, our mission is to construct water tanks or wells, also known as Jojo tanks, in three different areas. These new water sources will be a game-changer for local community members, providing them with access to clean and reliable water. Together, we're making waves of positive change! 💧 #SummerWaterProject #CleanWaterForAll

Water Well project

Water tanks, known as Jojo tanks, vary in cost from $1000 to $2000, depending on their size. Research indicates that once installed, they efficiently collect and store water in an eco-friendly manner. Jojo tanks also feature innovative technologies that monitor water levels, track usage, and alert users when levels are low. The ongoing water crisis underscores the importance of not taking water for granted. It's a challenge we can address, and we're confident that our innovative water projects c

St. Monica's Children Home

Our organization is thrilled to announce that we'll be installing a water well at St. Monica's Children Home (CYCC) located on the Bluff in KZN. As a non-government institution, St. Monica's provides care for orphaned and vulnerable children. This initiative will ensure access to clean and reliable water for the children and staff, fostering a healthier and more sustainable environment for all.
